02 / MORE THAN A LINE ON A MAP

BEFORE IT WAS A HISTORIC TRAIL,
IT WAS A LIFELINE.

Long before the gold rush, Alaska Native peoples created the pathways that would become part of the Iditarod Trail. Communities, knowledge and journeys shaped its story.

Today, the Alliance helps protect that heritage through education, research and hands-on trail stewardship.
